A disturbing turn

The sheriff informed me that another citizen of Cherbeek Bay, Nancy Turner, has disappeared, apparently abducted by persons (or non-persons) unknown. As if that weren't distressing enough, a note was found at the scene proclaiming the end of the world. The writer of the note was none other than Patricia Kramer. Why would Patricia write such a thing, and what has happened to her since her disappearance? That is what the sheriff wanted to know, but unfortunately, I couldn't provide any answers for him. I have no reason to believe that Patricia would lie about such a thing, but I am both perplexed and a little afraid of what would cause her to not only believe that she has seen the end of the world coming, but to write a note to that effect.
